Thought to think about…
Was listening to a sermon by Francis Chan on the Holy Spirit and this convicted me…there are things I know I need to do but I have been dragging my feet!
Is it more pleasing to God by us learning more about His Word without doing what it says?
James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
If you do not plan on obeying the Word, is it better off not knowing?
James 4:17 says, “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.”
We deceive ourselves believing knowledge of God without obedience is pleasing to the Lord, in fact it is worse for us. We would have been better off not knowing.
“We like to discuss Truth more than we like to respond/apply to truth…The greatest need in the American church is not knowledge but conviction that results in action.” Francis Chan
**I am not saying do not learn more about God but that we need to obey the convictions we receive from the Word of God.**
