Power in Praying Scriptures out loud…

I am writing this for those who are not aware and to remind/encourage those who do know to continue and share will everyone!!

I was given a book of prayers that pray through the scriptures. I have been praying several them out loud and I have seen amazing breakthroughs already. I was telling our Associate Pastor/Youth Pastor about what God has been doing and he showed me something so simple and powerful.

I am going to start out by answering some questions:

1) Can Satan or his demons hear my thoughts?

From what I have found the scripture does not just come out and say they can or cannot but here are few things I have found. In order for them to be able to do this they would have to be omnipresence and/or omniscience and those are only characteristics that scriptures show God having.

Mark 13:32 says, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

1 Peter 1:12 says, “It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.”

By the two scriptures above it can be assumed that angels are not omniscience and Satan and his demons are just fallen angels.

Isaiah 46:9-10 says, “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”

Isaiah 46:9-10 shows that God is the only one all knowing. If you would like to look up a few more scriptures that show God’s is omniscience: (Gen 6:5, Psalm 139, Hebrews 4:12-13). We also know Jesus was able to know the thoughts of men He was around (Matthew 9:4, 12:25; Mark 2:8; Luke 6:8, 11:17).

There is no where in scripture that I have found that gives any indication they Satan or his demons can…I did find this:

Daniel 2:27-28 says, “Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you lay on your bed are these:”

When Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by his dream he called all his enchanters, magicians, and diviners who could appeal to demonic sources and none of them where able to tell Nebuchadnezzar his dream. Only Daniel the servant of God could reveal his dream. If demons could read minds they would have been able to read Nebuchadnezzar’s.

2) Can Satan and demons be in more than 1 place at a time?

We know that demons were angels, finite beings, so they are personal beings that are self contained and are limited in space and time. Simply meaning they can only be at 1 place at a time.

Daniel 10:12&14 say, “Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come”

Now this scripture above shows the answer to my question. Notice, Michael one of the chief princes came to help me. The word “came” means he was not there and had to come to him in order to help…again if angels are not able to then fallen angels are not able to either.

I think it is accepted that Satan and demons can speak or inject thoughts into our minds. You might ask well if he can’t read my thoughts how does he know what to temp me with. Well simply put sin is his very nature; he has been doing it for thousands of years, and his demons or himself can see what you watch, listen to, do when no one is looking.  Here are a few scriptural references that show spirits are able to affect our mental thoughts (2 Cor 4:3-4, Acts 5:3, Judges 9:23, John 13:26-27).

In Matthew 4 Jesus had fasted 40 days and 40 nights then he was tempted. Now Jesus could have called a legion of angels to help Him or anything else He wanted but what did He do?

1) He said, for it is written, man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
2) He said, “Get away, Satan! It is written: The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.”
3) He said, “Again it is written, you shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.”
He spoke scripture out loud and the Satan had to flee.

In Eph 6:13-18 tells us to put on the full armor of God. I want to point out the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (vs 17).

How many times have we been praying and trying to concentrate but random thoughts keep popping in our minds? Going to sleep and images keep flashing in your mind? We try to rebuke them and cast them out but they keep coming and coming and coming and it in turns makes us feel a little powerless and cast doubts on our faith…maybe not our belief in Christ but that we have authority or that God could use us. Maybe it just makes you feel like the fight is hopeless because as far as you can see there is no power and you are thinking about giving up.

I said all of that to point out that if Satan cannot hear our thoughts and we are rebuking, binding, casting thoughts out, praying against something and we are doing it mentally how can Satan hear you? If you bind it and cast the thoughts verbally without scriptures you are not using the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. When Jesus was tempted He spoke the written word of God and commanded Satan to flee, He was using the sword of the Spirit. Take in encouragement in the fact that God has and will always be there for us…we just need to use the tool He has provided for us.

Now I am by far no expert on this but just sharing some of what I have learned recently through conversation and studies. I will even throw this out at you…I have read that we should speak scripture when praising God and in all facets of prayer. That by praying scripture out loud moves God on your behalf. Also, just like God spoke the world into existence we can speak the will of God for our lives into existence by praying the scriptures out loud. There is Power in the Living Word of God.

I went 12 ½ years without ever knowing this…which is completely insane but for me this changes everything! I close with this I have heard that our mind is our battlefield many times. I purpose, what if the mind is only our first battleground to overcome in our walk with Christ? With that victory we have an increased Faith in the power of the Word of God to step out into our next battleground and so on and so forth. Just a thought for you…
