Send ACTION PACKS to Pakistani Christians attacked by Muslims
Dear VOM Friends:
On Aug. 1, when 20,000 radical Muslims attacked a Christian section of Gojra village, our contacts in Pakistan immediately responded. VOM contacts were calling Gojra Christians as the mob raged through the village. They encouraged them to remain strong. They also called police and government officials to pressure them to respond to the desperate cries for help in Gojra.
VOM Continues To Help
It took more than five hours for emergency personnel to reach the mob scene. By that time, eight Christians were dead, 100 Christian homes and one church building were burned. Christians had to use vegetable carts to transport dead and wounded family members to the hospital. All this death and destruction occurred because of a rumor — a Christian had torn the pages of the Quran. It was a rumor later proven false.
Today, VOM contacts in Gojra continue to aid the village, including helping with some medical expenses for wounded Christians. In the coming weeks, with your help, we will also deliver Action Packs to Christians living in Gojra.
Action Packs Provide Comfort
Each Action Pack provides much needed aid, including clothing, a towel, blanket and bar of soap. Inserted into each Action Pack is Christian literature that explains the love of Christ. Some of the Christians will keep all the items. Others will share them with Muslim friends or neighbors.
Around the world persecuted Christians tell us Action Packs are a reminder that they are NOT forgotten. They rejoice that their spiritual family in the United States has remembered and is praying for them.
Pakistani Christians hope these attacks can be a turning point. They are praying to God and asking their government to overturn unjust blasphemy laws that are often used as a pretext to attack Christians.
