Prayer or Outreach…which is most important?
Here recently my (recent) current way of thinking is being challenge and I feel I am in the wrong. Now it is much better than my last but through this recent burst of growth in Christ in my life I am finding myself challenged to do even more in order to get where I want to be in Christ!
Now I still feel that prayer is by far the most important tool of a believer in Jesus Christ! However, I found myself slipping into the I need to get my prayer life 100% perfect before I go out and start outreaching in our local community. Though after reading scripture and talking to several mature Christians I am finding that the two actually go hand in hand. Now I have no proof of the matter scripturely, not that there isn’t any, I just do not know anywhere in the Bible that says outreachings strengthens ones prayer and ones prayer increases ones outreach. Though I feel a check and peace in my spirit on this concept!
I felt that I had to get my prayer life 100% right before I go out because I need know I am doing what God has called me to do. But there it is again the “I”! Where is scripture does it ever show that serving the lost, feeding the hungry, assisting the elderly/disabled, cleaning up neighborhoods, clothing the needy, giving the thirsty something to drink, visiting the prisoners, entertaining strangers, taking care of the sick, and sharing the gospel of Christ with the lost as wrong? WHERE, I ask myself? Isn’t that loving my neighbor? In fact Jesus says GO in Matthew 28:18-20! Those things are the very things that Jesus commands us to do!
I am not for sure how the two will feed the other but it feels right! I cannot find any error in going forth with this…
In all things remember to be humble, remember that all revelations might not be for everyone because of different stages of walks with Christ! Remember when God takes you to a new level, he has taken someone else farther! Be thankful God has blessed you and found mercy on your to show you favor but you are not greater than anyone! It might not be intentional but it seems almost our nature, to puff ourselves up as better. Just because ones words speak humility doesn’t mean ones heart is!
Lets become soldiers of Christ prepping for the battle on our knees and moving forth into all the world proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone! Read the gospels for yourself, you will find that this is not an option rather a command from Christ!
