Which is more important: Jesus or Heaven?
What is it that drives you as a Christian?
What is it you worry about?
Do you ask yourself can I do “____” and still go to Heaven?
Do you worry more about overcoming your sin/struggles or your relationship with Christ?
Do you sin and then feel unworthy to praise God or go to church?
What is the greater: To be able to have an intimate relationship with the King of Kings, God of the Universe, Lord Almighty, the Great I AM? or To make it to Heaven?
Search yourself, what do you desire the most?
If you answer, of course Jesus! Then I ask you, do you wake up longing to be in His presence? Thanking Him for waking up and all your blessings in life? Longing to read His word and seek His face? To have a loving relationship with the Great I AM, Creator of everything?
How long do you pray everyday? How much time do you spend in the Bible everyday? Do you fast regularly? Do you only obey the commands of Christ that pertain to what we call Christ-like actions: listening to Christian music, not cussing, not drinking, staying away from drugs, etc or Do you follow all the commands of Christ?
These are questions I am challenging myself with and when I answer honestly I am not liking the results! For some reason it is acceptable in America wear the title “Christian” but not to seek a relationship with Christ and call it okay because everyone else is struggling with it due to work, family, kids, activities, church, working in the church, etc…what is more important than JESUS!?!
I am challenging myself to seek the face of God, taking God up one His word and calling Him out. I want all of Jesus!! I want to live a life that no matter what I am doing I want Jesus, where I can’t get Him off my mind, where I cannot wait to get into His presence…Not on Sunday but EVERYDAY!
Proverbs 8:17 (NIV)
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV) - Deliverance of the Jews but notice the requirement. Still apply today? I believe so…
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Matthew 7:7&8 (NIV)
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
James 4:8(NIV)
“Come near to God and he will come near to you…”
I want to have such a close relationship with God, that I begin to like the things He likes, I hate the things He hates, I long to have the comfort of His presence, and confidence to go anywhere with Him by my side.
- Have you ever noticed that when you become Best Friends with someone (probably more in HS) and you begin hanging out with that person ALL the time…your interests become one, your speech patterns become one, you get stupid inside jokes, your dress along the same fashion, etc! Can’t wait to hook up with your best friend at school? That is how I want my relationship to be with Jesus! Do you?
I am no where near where I want to be but I am determined to press through until I get there! It is His will, and He cannot deny it! Do you really believe He died on the cross NOT to have a relationship with us? Of course this is His will!
1 John 5:14 & 15 (NIV)
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
If you think that this type of relationship is only for Pastors, Missionaries, extreme Christians, Evangelists, etc…you need to read scriptures. All of Christ’s commands that I have read are talking to his followers/believers, to every member of the body of Christ!
So I ask you again, what is more important you, Jesus or Heaven?
Psalm 63:1-5 (NIV)
“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”
