The Grace of God not only explained God’s Grace but showed it all throughout scripture. Andy Stanley, to my surprise, didn’t side step the stories in the Old Testament that people use to argue God as a judgmental and cruel God but instead used them to explain God’s Grace. He showed through scripture that God prefers to execute Grace and not judgment. He challenges the concept that relationship with God is dependent on our ability to follow the do’s and don’ts of Christianity. He argues that God establishes relationships before laws are ever given and at the heart of Christianity is simplistic Grace.
The Grace of God is educational, well written, and easy to read. Andy Stanley captures your attention throughout the whole book by not just explaining Grace but teaching it in such a way that it pulls the Old Testament and New Testament together. It wasn’t just challenging to me but brought my salvation, my relationship with God, my life, and my identity as a follower of Christ into a new light. I absolutely loved this book and feel everyone should read it. It has opened my eyes that Grace is not just a gift from God that enables us to have redemption but should be a part of every aspect of my life.
