Not 100% sure on how accurate this site is but I would imagine it is pretty close. This side says there are 26 different dialects of the english language in the U.S. In 2002 I went to PA, NY, NJ, and D.C. and some of them folks talked so fast…especially in Manhatten! On top of that, I smiled and nodded to some people in the city (out of habbit, custom here in Louisiana) and people where like, “What do you want?” or just glared…lol. I found it rather humorous, Oh and they do not like to be called ma’am or sir. I found cultral differences pretty fascinating.
